Joanne “Jodie” Manthey, 74, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Jodie leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, compassion, and service to others.
Jodie was the beloved wife of Erlynn “Slim” Manthey, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. She took tremendous pride in being a military wife and in Slim’s 24 years of honorable service in the United States Marine Corps. Throughout their marriage, she embraced the challenges, sacrifices, and adventures of military life with strength and devotion. Being a Marine Corps wife was more than a title to Jodie; it was an important part of who she was.
Jodie dedicated much of her life to caring for others through emergency medical services. As a medic, volunteer, and instructor, she touched countless lives through her compassion, knowledge, and willingness to serve. She took great pride in training and mentoring future emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and cardiac technicians, sharing her knowledge and passion for helping others. Her dedication left a lasting impact on her patients, fellow providers, and students, many of whom will carry forward the lessons she taught.
Above all, Jodie’s greatest joy was her family. Her strength, kindness, and unconditional love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Her family was her greatest blessing, and the love she shared with them will continue through the generations.
Jodie was preceded in death by her father, James Cox; her mother, Caroline Ann Bregel; her stepmother, Heidi Cox; and her brothers, Mike Cox, Richard Cox, and David Cox.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 56 years, Erlynn “Slim” Manthey; her children, Erlynn “Cisco” and his wife, Sonya; Shawnn and his wife, Robyn; and Angela and her husband, Otto; her beloved grandchildren, Monica, Hunter, Masonn (Autumn), Cadence (Bryson), Blake, Grannt, Emma, Joshua, and Daniel; and her four precious great-grandchildren, Eli, Parker, Everleigh, and Jayne. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Angell, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Jodie lived a life of purpose, always willing to lend a helping hand and offer comfort to those in need. Her compassion extended far beyond her family, touching the lives of friends and neighbors. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds peace and comfort in their faith and in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Her legacy will live on through the family she cherished, the students she inspired, and the countless people whose lives were made better simply by knowing her.
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:21
