John Barbarczuk

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Julia (Toth) Barbarczuk and his sister, Julianne Arose.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Marybeth Paglino and adored daughters, Kathryn, Julia, Samantha, and Emily Barbarczuk.

John was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. He married Marybeth on November 9th, 1991, and from that day forward they built a life centered on unconditional love, family, and enduring partnership. They settled in Rahway, New Jersey, before relocating to Stafford County with their family in 2006.

John loved deeply, protected fiercely, and always put the people he loved first. His family was the center of his life bringing him his greatest pride and deepest joy. His influence will continue to be felt through his daughters, who will proudly carry forward the love, unwavering spirit and values he instilled in them.

Having lost his parents at a young age, a young John looked to his coaches and teachers for mentorship and support. In later life, John sought to provide that same support to others. He became the kind of person whose presence left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Football was one of John’s lifelong passions. As an All-State player at J.P. Stevens High School, he earned the opportunity to continue his football career at Ferrum College, carrying with him the discipline, leadership, and love of the game that would shape the rest of his life. Those experiences inspired a decades-long coaching career, where he became far more than a coach.

Across classrooms, ball fields, gyms, and recreation centers, one name was spoken with familiarity and respect: Coach B. Generations of campers, students, athletes, and colleagues from the Clark and Rahway Recreation Centers, the Sayreville, Clark, and Rahway Public Schools, the Police Athletic League in New Jersey, the Stafford County Parks and Recreation Center, A.G. Wright Middle School, and North Stafford High School were fortunate to know the mentor, coach, and friend behind that name. It represented someone you could count on, someone who believed in you, someone who could make you laugh, and someone who expected you to become the best version of yourself. His impact stretched far beyond wins, losses, practices, and games. He helped shape young people and built relationships that lasted a lifetime.

John had a personality that was impossible to forget. His humor, quick wit, stories, and ability to make people laugh were part of what made him so special. He could fill a room with his presence, make sure people knew they were seen and leave them smiling long after the conversation ended.

John was Jersey Strong until the very end: tough, determined, resilient, and never one to back down from a fight. He faced life with the same strength, positivity and heart that he encouraged in everyone around him.

But beneath that toughness was an enormous heart.

John’s legacy cannot be measured simply by the years he lived, but by the lives he changed. It lives in every person who still hears Coach B’s voice in the back of their mind, in every former student who has a story to tell, and throughout the halls and fields of North Stafford where his influence will never truly disappear.

There will never be another Coach B.

He was loved beyond words, will be missed beyond measure, and will forever remain a part of the people and community to which he gave so much of himself.

John was deeply inspired during his valiant fight against cancer by AJ Slye’s own journey. John's visitation will be held at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Rd, Stafford, Virginia 22554, on August 14, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and again on August 15, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
