I’m heartbroken to hear about Joseph’s passing. I had the privilege of working with Joseph at Barrett for three years. What a special person he was! I will always remember him fondly. I am so sorry.

Hold a spot up there for me. I wish I could’ve stayed in VA. We were becoming best friends back then and I could sure used a friend like you today. May God be with your family during this difficult time. It’s hard to wrap my head around this. Rest in paradise my friend...

Dear Joseph,
I really wasn't expecting you to go so early. We, your cousins, always look forward to you coming to the Philippines. We always had fun playing together, spending time together, and many more. We also had fun listening to your little stories from home. It will be so sad that you won't be coming to visit us anymore. You were the one that inspired me to learn how to play the piano. I always found you amazing while playing the piano. You were so smart and very kind. You might be gone from our sights but we will always remember you as our dear cousin.

With love,
Ethan

Dear Goyena family,
I am so sorry for your loss of Joseph. He was a big part of our H.H. Poole family and will be missed. I have such fond memories of Joseph from math class in 6th grade. He shared his musical videos with the class. He was extremely talented! Joseph was nice, polite, and a friend to all. He loved the rubik's cube and telling jokes. His smile was infectious! He would tell a joke in class and then sit back and chuckle about it. Then, I would get teased, "come on Ms. Szymanski, you know you want to laugh!" He was part of a very close group of kids. For a teacher, he was a great student to have. He was hardworking and respectful! I feel very lucky to have had him in my life. It is with deepest sadness that we say goodbye. Heaven has gained another Angel! My heart goes out to you and your family.
Lots of hugs and prayers for you,
Love Joanne Szymanski

To our dear Goyena Family,
It is with deep sadness to learn that a precious child such as Joseph has left us. I remember the first time I met Joseph... he was in the same class at our piano teacher. I was at a slower pace on "Fur Elise" and he has already mastered it. Lou said... "you can show Tita Gail" and he lovingly obliged. I'll never forget Joseph's kindness. Lou, our dear Joseph is now with His Creator. He is in a much better place where there is no suffering, no sorrow, only love! Let's celebrate Joseph's memories! We send our heartfelt CONDOLENCES!!! With loving thoughts from,
DR. AND MRS. MURALI AND GAIL NAIR

Gerry and Lou,

Our hearts ache for you and your family. Joseph was so talented, smart, kind, and a good friend to Isaac.

In remembrance of Joseph, Isaac retold how he was always awed by how fast he solved the Rubik’s cube. Nate recalled Joseph’s flexibility and splits in karate. I remember his beautiful smile and the joy he brought to our lives, from the days of karate, play-dates, and birthday celebrations.

Heaven has gained an angel. We are sadden and miss him immensely. Sending lots of prayers and love to you.

With heavy hearts filled with love,
Nate, Phuong, & Isaac
