Julia Mae Basista

Julia M. “Julie” Basista, 80, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2015, at her home in Triangle, VA. She was born in Irwin, Pa, April 17, 1935, the daughter of the late Frank J. and Sarah E. Turnbull Sprentz and loving wife of thirty-one years to Robert “Hunky Bob” Basista, Sr., until his death, February 26, 1983. She retired in 1999, after working twenty-five years as a supervisor and head cook at Northern Virginia Training Center in Fairfax, VA.

Those left to cherish Julia’s memories are her daughters, Denise L. Blazek (Joe) of Stafford, Diane M. Strickland of Triangle, Debra A. Goding (Mitch) of Stafford and son Robert P. Basista, Jr. of Triangle; her eight grandchildren, David Blazek (Michelle), James Blazek, Kelly Basista Spurlin, Nancy Basista, Laurie Strickland Musolino, Crystal Goding Harmon (Mike), Dustin Goding (Sara), Heather Goding Burton (Adam); eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; brother Johnny Sprentz (Marie) of McKeesport, PA, and her very special and much loved sister, Patricia “Patsy” Priselac Megliss (John) of McKeesport, PA; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. Julia’s daughters, along with granddaughters Laurie and Nancy were her loving caregivers. It was truly a blessing to care for our Mum and Grandma.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her two brothers Joseph and Frank Sprentz; her six sisters, Helen Bohacik, Evelyn McAvoy, Mildred Huss, Anne Ellis, Betty Lou Sprentz and Ethel Sprentz.

The family will receive friends on Thursday December 31, 2015 from 11 am to 12 pm at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service Stafford Chapel 186 Shelton Shop Rd. where a funeral service will be held at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Stafford Memorial Park.
