

Karl Hermann Saul, 85, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at home surrounded by his loved ones. Born on August 20, 1941, in Remscheid, Germany, Karl was the son of Konrad Saul and Lydie Lindloff. He later made his home in the United States, where he devoted much of his life to serving his country.
Karl proudly served in the United States Army for 27 years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 4. Throughout his distinguished military career, he was known for his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to those he served alongside. His contributions were recognized with his induction into the Ordnance Hall of Fame at Fort Lee, Virginia, an honor that reflected the lasting impact of his service.
Beyond his military accomplishments, Karl will be remembered for the steadfast presence he was to his family and friends. He was a devoted husband to Alma Saul and a proud father to Susanne Combs (Ron), Hans Saul, and his son Mike Saul, who preceded him in death. Karl was also a cherished brother to Ursula Fechner and grandfather to four grandchildren.
Karl lived a life marked by duty, love, dedication, and devotion to his family and country. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A future service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery.
