

Keith was born in Newark, New Jersey, to Karen Henry and Richard McIntosh. He was raised in Plainfield, New Jersey, before moving to Omaha, Nebraska, where he graduated from Omaha Central High School with the Class of 1984.
After graduating, Keith returned to Plainfield, where he became known throughout the neighborhood by the nickname “Cowboy.”
Keith was first married to Joann A. Byrd, and together they welcomed their son, Bryan K. Byrd. Following Joann’s passing, Keith later married Karen Thompson-Byrd, with whom he welcomed two children, Kyra K. Byrd and Dante K. Byrd, and became part of the lives of her two children, Aaron Fisher and Jamil Richardson.
Keith is survived by his children, Bryan K. Byrd, Keith R. Byrd Jr., and Dante K. Byrd; his grandchildren, Aryana J. Byrd and Bryson J. Byrd; his sister, Stacy Westbrook; his brother, Richard McIntosh Jr.; his dearest friend, Yvette Reynolds; as well as his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joann A. Byrd; his second wife, Karen Thompson-Byrd; his daughter, Kyra K. Byrd; his mother, Karen Henry; his father, Richard McIntosh; and his grandmother, Virginia Royal.
Keith’s life took him from New Jersey to Nebraska and eventually to Virginia. He leaves behind family and memories that will continue to be carried forward by those who knew him.
His legacy will continue through his children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
