

Lawrence A.J. Cummings 73, was born in Manhattan on October 12, 1947, to the parents of Joseph Cummings and Lillian Marteen-Cummings. They resided in Harlem for a few years, then the family moved to Jamaica Queens during his younger years. He has three sisters, Ursula now deceased, leaving behind Rita and Sheryl, and one brother, Robert. Also, survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a few very special friends.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. Lawrence received his associates degree and worked hard to earn a living. He enlisted in the Navy giving 15 years of service to the United States and government. He was a Vietnam veteran. Lawrence acquired a position with the federal government and achieved many awards of excellence and achievements and worked an additional 34 years until his retirement.
Lawrence known to some as Lucky, enjoyed indulging himself in the finer things in life. He especially enjoyed athletics, fishing, football, and basketball. Not to mention a good game of chess with a strong opponent. He married Cheryl Wallace and adored his loving wife, now deceased and his two step sons.
