Martin Joseph Vogt 76 of Springfield, VA passed away peacefully at Paramount Senior Living in Fredericksburg, VA on May 24, 2020. He was born in Evergreen Park Illinois to the late George and Marie Vogt, Matteson, IL.
Marty served in the US Army from 1965-1971, he retired from Ozinga Brothers. in Mokena, Il after many years. You could always find him reading a book or doing a crossword puzzle. He loved to go golfing and fishing. He enjoyed taking trips with his family and was always ready to go on a cruise. He loved his family, especially being a Papa.
He is survived by his daughters Sheri of Piqua, Oh; Sarah of Springfield, VA and Rebecca (Alex) of Springfield, VA. Son, Paul (Tamara) of Naples, Fl. Grandchildren Nathanael, Hannah, Reonnah, Aliviah and Aliyah. He is also survived by his brother James Vogt, many nieces, nephews and brothers-in-law(s), several cousins and a great grandbaby on the way: Oakley Brynn.
Marty is preceded in death by his wife Brenda (Sumner) Vogt, parents George and Marie (Lundy) Vogt, Father and Mother in law Ronald and Lois Sumner, granddaughter Klaira Louise Peterman. Brothers George and Thomas Vogt, sister Judith Brescia and sister in law Carol Sumner. Along with several other family members.
Dads wish was to be cremated. A celebration of life dinner will take place in Chicago, IL at a later date followed by a gravesite service in Ohio.
The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support through this difficult time. Dad fought a good fight with Dementia and in the end, he won, he is now free.
