

Mary Anne “Anne” Hartzel, 99, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2026. Born on March 5, 1927, in Baltimore, Maryland, Anne lived a long and meaningful life centered on family, faith, service, and kindness.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Peggy Eddy; her son, Jim Hartzel and his wife, Cindy; her two grandsons, whom she adored, Chris Eddy and Brian Eddy; and five cherished great-grandchildren.
Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Hartzel; her sister, Marcy Swinehart; her dear son-in-law, Mike Eddy; and many other family members who welcomed her home.
Throughout her life, Anne was dedicated to helping others. She generously volunteered her time making heart pillows for patients recovering from heart surgery, offering comfort and encouragement during difficult times. Her caring nature and willingness to serve others touched many lives.
Anne worked for many years in the carpet department office at Sears before later retiring from Federal Government service. She took great pride in her work and was admired for her dedication and strong work ethic.
Family was the center of Anne’s world. She loved deeply and unconditionally, and there was nothing she would not do for those she cared about. She especially enjoyed gardening, creating beautiful gardens that reflected her patience, creativity, and love of nature.
Anne made a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her kindness, warmth, generosity, and devotion to family and friends will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Millins & Thompson Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anne’s memory to the American Heart Association.
