

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beverly Elizabeth Allard in 2004.
Merle was born in Reedsboro, VT, 7 March 1933 to Charles Albert Allard and Hazel Flora Stetson. He attended Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls, MA and following graduation, joined the United States Navy.
Merle sailed aboard the USS Power DDG-839 during the Korean War and the USS Boston CAG-1 until the end of his Naval career. He was a 2nd Class Petty Officer Machinists Mate. He was a life member, former Chaplain and Post Commander of the Shelburne Falls, MA, VFW Post 8503. He enjoyed marching in military parades with his fellow post members. When he wasn’t painting, creating unique works of art, or solving jigsaw puzzles, he would dabble in one of his favorite hobbies, woodworking.
Merle was a former Production Scheduler for Kendall Mills of Colrain and retired as the company was moving the business out of state.
Survivors include his daughter, Jeannie (Allard) Baczek of Stafford, VA. Son, Robert Charles Allard, Daughter-in-law, Julie (Gamache) Allard, and two grandchildren, Melissa and Stephen Allard of Farmville, NC.
A graveside service with Military Honors will take place at Arms Cemetery in Shelburne Falls, MA, date to follow.
