Born in Washington, DC, Mike dedicated his career to serving as a Building Engineer at Lerner Enterprises, where he worked for many years ensuring the safe and efficient operation of commercial properties. His expertise in building systems and his meticulous attention to detail made him a valued member of the team throughout his career.

Mike was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Peggy, with whom he shared 59 wonderful years of marriage. Their enduring partnership was a testament to love, commitment, and mutual respect.

A true craftsman at heart, Mike had an exceptional talent for fixing just about anything that needed repair. Whether it was a household appliance, a neighbor's problem, or a family member's project, Mike approached each challenge with patience and skill. He found great joy in spending quiet hours fishing, often sharing these peaceful moments with family and friends. Mike was also an enthusiast of classic western movies, and many evenings were spent enjoying his favorite films with loved ones.

Above all, Mike treasured time spent with his family. He was a loving father and grandfather who took great pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow and succeed.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Peggy Leonberger; his three children: Lorrie Bussius, Michael Leonberger, and Michelle Leonberger; and five cherished grandchildren who brought immense joy to his later years.

A memorial service celebrating Mike's life will be held at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service in Stafford, Virginia, on Wednesday, August 28, 2025, at 2:00 PM with a visitation time for an hour prior. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of a man who touched many lives through his kindness, skill, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Mike's memory.
