Michael Thome

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Thome, affectionately known as Mike, Mickey Tome, Fruncle, and Dudemon, who passed away on August 21st, 2026 at the age of 74 in Dumfries, Virginia.

Mike was born on May 13th, 1952, in Salinas, California to Raymond C. and Margaret S. Thome. They grew up all around the country, but primarily in Kansas City, Missouri. He dutifully and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War as a United States Marine. The majority of his professional life was spent as a mortgage banker where he helped many to live their dream through the purchase of their home.

Throughout his life, Mike was known for being fun, honest, intensely supportive, and always being there. He enjoyed golf, hunting, the beach, watching sports (partially being a Washington Redskins fan - God bless him - and the Kansas City Chiefs), but most of all he loved his family and friends. There was no ask that was too great, no problem he could not help solve, no length to which he would not be willing to go to listen and help; he was truly the biggest cheerleader and confidant to those who needed him. He was incredibly proud of his sons, the men they have become, and the families they have raised. He felt the same for Philip who in every way was a third son to him. Most of all, he loved his dear Wife Deborah (Debbie, Debo). Their 51 years together (46 married) were undoubtedly his glory years. Their bond was inextricably intertwined, unbreakable even by death.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Ann Thome; his son, David and his wife, Brittney Thome; his son, Chris and his wife, Brianne Thome; his granddaughters, Evangeline, Emery, Rowan, and Avila; his grandsons, Cormac, Cillian, Eamon, and Caden; his nephew, Philip; his sister, Jennifer, and many more, all of whom loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond; his mother, Margaret; his brother, Dennis; and his sister, Millie.

Dude and Mickey to many, Fruncle to some, Pops to a couple, but loving husband to one. His laugh, smile, support, and love will live on in many forever.

Forever loved, deeply missed, and always remembered.

Visitation will be held at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Rd, Stafford, Virginia 22554, on September 11, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Burial will take place at National Memorial Cemetery at Quantico, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA, on September 11, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
