Paul Leonard Jr., otherwise known as Pan to those who loved him, was born at home in Louisburg, NC on August 2nd 1948 to Paul and Nevellia (Spivey) Leonard. His family relocated to Pittsburgh when Paul was 5. They settled in the Beltzhoover neighborhood in the South Hills. He graduated from South Hills High School where he played both baseball and basketball. Following high school Paul played basketball for Brevard College in Florida and Penn State University. He ultimately returned home to Pittsburgh where he met Hattie Porter at a social his sister Ethel was hosting.
Hattie and Paul were married January 2, 1973. They welcomed their beloved son Paul Antwon Leonard III on December 1, 1974. Initially living in East Liberty, they settled in their forever home on Eastwood Road in Penn Hills.
Paul worked for the Pennsylvania American Water company as a backhoe operator for over 40 years prior to his retirement in 2010. He was a fan of all sports, especially Pittsburgh sports and you would never catch him without a baseball hat representing the black and gold. He loved his city and would often wander the strip district and particularly loved Wholeys fish sandwiches and warm soft Pretzels in the early mornings on his way to work.
Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife Hattie (Porter) and parents Paul and Nevellia (Spivey) Leonard.
He is survived by his son Paul Antwon married to Bobbie (Connor) of Fredericksburg, VA, sisters Ethel Leonard of Pittsburgh and Jeanette (Leonard) Stafford married to JC Stafford of Henrico, VA, brother James Leonard of Pittsburgh, nephew Joel Stafford married to Yolanda and niece Janielle Stafford as well as his adoring grandchildren McKinley and Beau.
Paul leaves behind many family and friends to mourn a generous man with a common sense wit that charmed everyone he met.
