Peggy Elaine Rawlins

Born April 14, 1955
Peggy Elaine (Boone) Rawlins, 56, of Fredericksburg, VA, died peacefully on January 24, 2012 at Mary Washington Hospital after a lengthy illness with her immediate family at her side. She was born in Denver, CO on April 14, 1955 to Neil Vernon and Norma Jean (Bernhardt) Boone. She took pride in the fact that she was a direct descendant of the famous explorer, Daniel Boone. After graduation from Mapleton High School, where she studied business and was a popular cheerleader, Peggy was employed at 20th Century Fox Corporation in its Denver office. She met and married Paul N. Rawlins, and moved to Woodbridge, VA in 1981 to support his service in The USAF Band's Airmen of Note. Peggy recently completed 21 years at the Division of Child Support Enforcement in its Fredericksburg District office where she was known to “her kids” as the “Candy Lady,” providing treats and love to the children of clients for years. Peggy is survived by her husband Paul, of Fredericksburg, her “Girl, Buggy”- Lacy Ann and husband Jeff, her mother Norma and sister Patricia Goodwin (Steve) of Parker, CO, brother Paul of Paradise, CA, niece Jennifer Hanam (Nathan) and nephew Jonathan Goodwin, both of Parker, CO, Great niece and nephew Amanda and Alex Hanam, her aunt and uncle June and Earl Gunter of Golden, CO, numerous cousins and their families of Colorado, and her loving family of pets - Teena, SCarlett O'Hair, Paris and Hilton. She was preceded in death by her father Neil Boone in 1996. “Peg” was the most caring, loving and sharing person, possessing an incredible selflessness and a great sense of humor. She sacrificed most of her own dreams and desires to ensure her family's needs were paramount. Peg touched thousands of lives with great love and was deeply loved by all whose paths she crossed. At Peggy's request, there will be no funeral service. Her remains will be spread at the Mt. Lindo Cemetery, Morrison, CO, where she will be at peace with her father. In Peggy's memory a “Peggy the Candy Lady” fund will be established at DCSE, Fredericksburg District office to perpetuate her love for the kids; donations in the form of cash or candy will be lovingly welcomed. “Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die.” - Mary Frye.
