Mr. Hart served as a Police officer for the City of Alexandria for eight and a half years and later went on to work and retire after 30 years from the Washington Gas Company.
He is preceded in death by his son, Robert Emory Hart.
He is survived by his loving wife Gertrude Hart, a son Richard Joseph Hart and a daughter Jennifer Frias (Hiram), six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Brian Hart.
A funeral service will be held at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service Stafford Chapel 186 Shelton Shop Rd. at 11am on Thursday January 7, 2016 with interment to follow at Stafford Memorial Park.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to either Mary Washington Hospice or Wounded Warriors Project.
