

Robert Pettis departed us December 29th 2024.
Robert Bruce Pettis born February 15,1953 of Oswego NY. Son of Alice & Richard Pettis.
Robert being one of 5 Children. Raised in California later joining the US Marines Corp during Vietnam War. He was Stationed in Japan where Robert received his DoD high school Diploma. These years being some of his fondest memories. Learning to be fluent in the language, Robert completely immersed in the culture. Discharging as a Sergeant, receiving the national defense service medal, the good conduct medal & rifle sharpshooters metal. Robert would later reside in Ca & become a member of the Labors Union as Concrete Cutter for Cal west, & diamond tech, in his down time Robert was a volunteer firefighter. Over the years his step children & grandkids had the pleasure of the generosity & patience he showed them.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Mary Pettis; his five step children, John Griggs (daughter in-law) Kerry Griggs of California, Katrina Carter (son in-law) Donald Carter of Virginia, David McNeill of Virginia, Misty Matsui of California, and William Cunningham of California; his grandchildren, Tyler, Madeline, Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Donald, Aura, Bella, Sunny, Jade, Natasha, Nicki & Taylor; and his great grandchildren, Brenna, Brandon & Rylie.
Richard will also be greatly missed by his brother, Guy Pettis of TX and his sister, Chris Poole of St. Thomas
He will be greatly missed, his laughs, jokes, humorous personality, his game playing, & his patience nature. He was a Gentle Giant. All those that had the pleasure of knowing him adore him. He was as loyal person, truly one of the good guys. He now has joined his mom Alice, & his two brothers Richard & David.
Robert Bruce Pettis final resting place will be Quantico National Cemetery Thursday, January 9th 2025 @11am near Stafford Va. where he had been living for the last 10 years.
