Robert William Renfrew

Robert was a loving son, brother, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and loyal friend. He was also a dedicated United States Marine who served his country with honor and pride.

Robert leaves behind his beloved wife, Cristina “Cris” Helbes Delan Renfrew, originally from Tacloban, Leyte, Philippines; his son Jonathan and his wife, Jessica (Bryant) Renfrew, of Bealeton, Virginia; his grandson, Callan, and granddaughter, Reya; his son Jason and fiancée, Samantha Hughes, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; and his parents, Doreen and Thomas Renfrew of Deltona, Florida. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles Leonard and Diane Choiniere, Steven and Kathryn Choiniere, Robert and Barbara Choiniere, Catherine and Gary Lusty, and Lorraine Choiniere.

Robert was predeceased by his younger brother, Michael; his maternal grandparents, Doris and Leonard Choiniere; his paternal grandparents, Harvey and Beatrice Renfrew; and his in-laws, Adilena Helbes and Patrosinio Kalsada Delan.

Robert proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 22 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant after numerous deployments, including Afghanistan. Following his military service, he continued working as a contractor in Stafford, spending ten years with Skylla Engineering, primarily as a subcontractor for Alexandria Insights; at the time of his passing he was employed by MLT Systems supporting Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC).

Robert and Cris met in Olongapo City, Philippines, while Robert was there on orders and Cris was working in her family’s gift shop. From that meeting grew a lifelong love and partnership.

He had a passion for golfing, although family time was his biggest priority. Finally becoming a grandad “pops” was one of the greatest joys of his life, even more so than his 90s Supra. Callan and Reya, held a very special place in his heart.

He was a fan of NFL football and NASCAR. He loved to camp which combined his enjoyment of fishing with spending time with cherished family and friends. He enjoyed travelling, especially cruising with the love of his life, his wife.

Robert will be remembered for his love of family, his loyalty to his friends, his pride in serving his country, and the many memories he created with the people he loved. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s memory to Tunnel to Towers, The Mount Church, or Gunston Bible Church.

Visitation will be held at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Rd, Stafford, Virginia 22554, on October 1, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the same location.

Burial will take place at National Memorial Cemetery at Quantico, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA, on October 1, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
