Timothy Allen Koons

Tim was born in Evreux, France where his father was stationed in the Air Force. He was raised in a rural area in a family of six in Columbus, Indiana. He is predeceased by his mother, Mildred E. Koons.

Upon graduation from High School, Tim married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Spalding at Sandy Hook United Methodist Church in Columbus, Indiana on May 31, 1980.

He was blessed with the opportunity to live abroad in his service to his country in Germany, England, Korea, and throughout the United States. He was highly decorated for his 22 years of active duty in the ARMY. Upon retiring from the military he and his family moved to Stafford, Virginia where he continued to serve our country as a consultant to the military.

Tim was known to have a huge heart, helping friends, family, and coworkers. He was an avid wood worker, fisherman, and motorcycle rider. He loved spending time with his family.

He leaves behind his wife, Sharon Y. Koons; children, Trisha & Tommy Holt, Chelsea Koons & Fiancé Chris Crouch; grandchildren, Tyler, Tristian, Taylor, Chloe, and Tatum; father, Oakley A. Koons; siblings, Cathie and Michael Wolski, Charlie and Kim Koons, Jerry Koons and Lisa Hill; Bo (Kim) and Ray McKenna; special companions Trixie and Doodle Butt.

A viewing will be held at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Home, 186 Shelton Shop Road, Stafford, VA, 22554, on Saturday October 8, 2016 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Funeral services and burial will be at a later date.
