

Troy was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 25, 1975 to Harrison Grant Jr. and Diane A. (Jones) Grant. Troy grew up with his parents and older brother, Craig E. Grant, first in Brooklyn and later in Queens, NY, where the family settled. Troy graduated from Thomas Edison Career and Technical Education High School in 1993, and following graduation he enrolled in Queensborough Community College (QCC). However, his true passion was to serve in the United States Armed Forces, so he left QCC after one semester and in 1995 Troy enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the Marines seven years as an Ammunition Technician. In 2003, after Troy’s time in the Marines ended, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in the Army for a year and a half as an Ammunition Specialist, and was medically retired in 2004. While serving his country, Troy was recognized for his dedication and exemplary work with personal awards, citations, and badges including the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar and Pistol Bar, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon, and his Army Lapel Button. After his retirement, Troy settled with his family in Virginia.
In 2004, Troy began his career with the Federal Government. His first assignment was with Inter-Con Security Systems, Inc. in Washington, DC with the Bureau of Diplomatic Security. In 2006, Troy continued his career with the U.S. Department of State. He worked in the Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs as a Distribution Facilities Specialist, where he remained until his untimely passing.
Troy’s first marriage was to Cheryl (Parson) Grant in 1997. Through their union, Taylor A. Grant was born in 1998. Troy’s second marriage was to Rosemary (Coletti) Grant in 2012. Through their union, Xavier R. Grant was born in 2014.
Troy is survived by his wife Rosemary Grant, his children Taylor Grant and Xavier Grant, his father Harrison Grant Jr., his mother Diane Grant, his brother Craig Grant and his former wife Cheryl Grant. Troy is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, niece, nephews and close friends.
A funeral service will take place at 3:00pm on June 9, 2020 at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Home, 186 Shelton Shop Road, Stafford, VA 22554, with Bishop Patrick O'Neal Thomas officiating. A viewing will precede the service from 2:00-3:00pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions seating will be limited, however, the service will be streamed on the funeral home website.
In lieu of flowers, donations towards the care and education of Troy’s children are appreciated.
