My dear sister It’s taken me this long to write.

Yes we argued but we had a special bond.

Remember Jones beach when we saw the Thunderbirds. It was so hot that day we thought we were cooking. You have always been more than a sister but my friend. It’s so hard for me to say goodbye. But I know you are with my Jesus now. You will always be in my heart.

A loss is never easy but one so unexpected, this was a shock. We’ve known Valerie for 8 years but she was more than our neighbor, she treated us like family. Always taking the time for good conversation and never missing a Birthday. She loved giving the men a hard time and making people laugh. We are grateful for the times and memories shared together on Millrace.

Valerie Jones was also my BFF since third grade. We have traveled so many years together even with a wedding our children , traveling and most of all our sickness. There’s so many wonderful memories that I can talk about but there’s too many and unfortunately because of my illness which she know about. I am not going to be able to make a funeral, but she will understand. God bless Valerie. She’s with the angels now.😘

I am genuinely at a loss for words about my cousin Val's passing.  She will be missed by everyone whose lives she touched.  The passing of my baby cousin, "Soy," was such a shock.  Val was one of the most beautiful souls I've ever known.
I wish peace and comfort to Mel, Dave, Jared, Shaina, my cousins Fran and Denice, and your loved ones as you go through this journey. May Val Rest in Heavenly Peace.

Keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers. Val was way to young to pass. She was an amazing coworker and good friend. She was my rock at work. She always kept me in check. My big mouth always got me in trouble. She always calmed me down. She was kind and patient with everyone. May you hearts be filled with happiness and wonderful memories.

Valerie was my instructor , Lead Agent & Supervisor at ElAl Israel Airlines and I will never forget during my examination as my instructor , she was walking around making sure we were on track. She stopped by me and said....Did I teach you that in a stern voice, I was so scared..I said No so she said, why is that on your paper..erase it now and write what I taught you. She made you think for yourself and figure it out. 

Valerie & Mel picked me up when I worked at Akwaaba DC, took me to dinner and what a wonderful time we had...They said instead of going back to the B&B, they invited me back to their home, spend the night and took me back the next morning. 

I will always treasure the times we spent together. RIP Valerie

Valerie was the older member of our Brinkerhoff Avenue crew growing up in Queens.  Although she was only three years older than me the gap seemed much bigger then. She was our leader and advisor and even arbitrator when we fought over who should be the teacher in Dumb School. Although the crew has all gone their separate ways I will always cherish Valerie and those childhood memories of her. Those are the memories that last forever. 

Valerie was an outstanding educator and colleague. She excelled teaching all students and meeting not only their academic needs but their emotional needs as well. 

She faced challenges with determination and grace, and she left every classroom better than she found it. 

She will be greatly missed.

Valerie and I were classmates at P.S. 131 in Queens in the 60s. We were able to reconnect once again via Facebook.
Fast forward to the 21st century and to my surprise I found out that a fellow member at church was Valerie's sister Denice.
I am very sorry to hear the sad news of Valerie's passing. My deepest condolences to the entire family. 

In an industry that was filled with stress and challenges, Valerie always showed kindness, compassion and friendship to her colleagues.  My condolences to her family and friends.

May the lord provide you strength as Val shines from above. Haven known Val for 9 years and being the neighbor to her and her family, there has been many great memories of Val. We will miss her bright smile, great cooking and her overall warmth that she brought to the neighborhood. The Wilkerson's send their love and condolences. RIP

This is a picture that Valerie sent to me a few years back. Valerie is on the left, I’m in the middle and Poppy Gaskin is on the right. 
Valerie and I met at P.S. 131 in the second grade. We became fast friends. While in Junior High, Valerie, Robin Moore, me and Poppy formed a singing group. We performed in every talent show. I will cherish those memories for the rest of my days. 
When I heard of Valerie’s passing, my heart broke. She was funny and had a wicked sense of humor. 
My condolences to her husband, son and close family and friends. May God rest her eternal soul.

Valerie was like my big sister when we were kids. I was 6, she was 9,. We rode bikes almost every day in Queens. She taught me how to ride. I got nice clothes from her too. I cant believe shes gone. Im so sorry. May she Rest in peace. God bless . We will miss her.

I remember on balmy summer evenings Valerie’s Mom would allow her to cross the street and come sit on our porch for an hour or so.  Valerie would put me on her lap, she was 13 and I was 5 and she and my two older siblings would tell spooky jokes! We loved her dearly! Her whole entire family actually. And so fast-forward 5 decades and she and my other big sister Francine have all been perfectly content to share nature photos of our back yards with each other on FB. Nothing more and nothing less. Just quiet nature. As I sit here trying to process a world to wake up to tomorrow without her in it, I am simply a mess! So heartbroken! I was praying that we could all get our 90’s together. But I will see you again my friend, my big sister! God speed Valerie Jones! God speed!❤️

When we first met and she found out I was from Cape Cod and she spent summers there, we hit it off. Valerie was one of my best friends, we shared so many private moments, intimate conversations, intellectual conversations. I am truly going to miss this women. We both have our Masters Degree in Education and both thought we were smarty-pants. We would think of big intellectual words to use on people in conversations; knowing the persons did not understand a dam thing we said, and we  laugh for days at our own jokes. Valerie I will cherish our rare friendship and not become sesquipedalian in this condolence message. Isaiah 60:20

It's hard to find the words to truly say how much you meant to me. You were my favorite cousin growing up. Although the years seperated us the love remained.  Take your rest now. I will miss you ❤️🙏
