She was born on December 29, 1946, in North Carolina to the late Howard Elmo and Verna (Cooke) Riley.
She was more than just a mother - she was our heart. Her smile and hugs radiated warmth, and her laughter brightened our days. She had a remarkable ability to make everything feel alright simply by being present. Each day, she would gently ask, “How was your day? Do you need anything?” and always follow with, “Are you okay?” That was her essence — selfless, thoughtful, always putting others first, and always rooted in love.
Her love extended far beyond us, touching the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an exceptional grandmother and great-grandmother, and her joy overflowed for those little ones; her face would light up the moment they entered the room. The depth and unconditional nature of her love for them is something we will always cherish.
She nurtured all of us with love, laughter, and a lifetime of cherished memories. Her voice, her hugs, her thoughtful check-ins — they’ve become a part of who we are.
Though our hearts ache with her passing, we are immensely grateful for the gift of her life and the time we shared. She was the embodiment of love, care, and presence. The lessons she gave us — to check on each other, to give from the heart, and to love without conditions — will stay with us always.
Rest peacefully, Mom. We love you, and we will carry you with us in everything we do.
