Virginia Notman went to be with the Lord on May 25, 2021, following a heart attack. She was born in Fresno, California on July 15, 1939. She grew up in Fresno and moved to the Salinas Valley after marrying. In 2005, she moved to Stafford Virginia.
She is survived by her son Rob (Tracy) Notman; a brother, Clarence Peter Hartman; a sister Jean Hamilton; a sister Cathy (Windell) Austin; a brother Dan Hartman; a brother Gary (Cathy) Hartman; her grandchildren Rebecca (Robert) Berumen, and Garrett (Sharon) Notman; her two great-grandchildren (whom she adored), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Lydia Hartman, her husband of 54 years, Bob Notman, a brother Jim Hartman, and sisters Elvera Ahlenslager and Donna Pretzer.
Virginia was a dedicated homemaker who also enjoyed tending her flowers and gardens. She loved children and served in teaching Sunday School, Children’s Church, and caring for babies in the Church Nursery for much of her life. She was always quick to be an “adopted Grammy” to children of friends – always sharing treats with her adopted grandkids. She was generous with her time, talent, and treasure and served the Lord and people throughout her life.
She greatly valued her independence, continuing to live on her own in her final years. When she made up her mind about something, she was a force to be reckoned with. Her strong will made it difficult for her to accept help but did help her overcome several serious medical events in her life.
A private burial service is planned per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in her honor be made to Geon Christian Children’s Home, a charity she and Bob supported for more than 50 years (www.kcgm.org).
