Captain William N. Brown, USMC (RETIRED) passed away at 0500, 23 April 2014 at the VA hospital in Durham, NC. He had been in declining health for several years. He was born 13 March 1932 in Atlanta, GA and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 8 April 1949.
He retired on 1 August 1970 after 21 years of service. He was the recipient of the Silver Star and two Bronze Stars for heroism. He also received two Purple Hearts and 20 other medals and awards.
He was predeceased by wife Barbara Cawhern.
He is survived by his wife, Jacquelyn, six children, Darlene Norton, Norris Brown, Deanna Taylor, Benjamin Brown, Crystal Kane, Holly Watkins, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The familly will recieve friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Services, Stafford. A funeral service will be held 1230, 1 May 2014 at Mullins-Thompson Funeral Home, 186 Shelton Shop Road, Stafford, VA with internment to follow at 2:00PM at the Quantico National Cemetery, Quantico, Va.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation.
