
Mr. Peer was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised in St. Thomas, Ontario. He attended the prestigious Collegiate School in St. Thomas. Shortly after High School, he joined the USAF. While in the Air Force he graduated from the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California where he studied Russian. He was also a graduate of Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas receiving a Bachelor’s degree in History. Additionally, he attended the University of Oklahoma with Masters Studies in Administration.
Mr. Peer served in the US Air Force for 27 years and was a member of the Security Service. Their motto “Freedom through Vigilance” salutes their Silent Warrior Heritage. As a young man he saw service in the Korean War. The remainder of his career was dedicated to the Cold War with multiple oversees postings serving in Japan, England, Berlin. He also served at various duty stations in the US. After his military service he had a distinguished career with General Electric completing a similar mission.
Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Charlotte Kahalealiihou Peer.
Survivors include his son Mark, his wife Lisa and grandchildren James and Charlotte; son Keith, his wife Stacey and grandchildren Zachary and Alyssa; cousin Ruth Perigo of Tawas, Michigan; brother-in-law Alex Bell of Kaneohe, HI; sister-in-law Barbara Bell of Oceanport, NJ; and brother-in-law Hugh Eidson of Sumter, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are scheduled at Aquia Episcopal Church on Saturday, August 27th at 3 pm with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Following the service there will be a short reception at the Church. Burial will be private in Quantico National Cemetery.
