Agnes M. Burns (Baumgartner) was born in Fingal, North Dakota August 28, 1918, daughter of John and Mary Schneider Baumgartner. Agnes passed away on July 12, 2011 at St. Camillus Heath Center. Mrs. Burns was a homemaker, as well as an employee of St. Joseph Medical Center in Stamford where she was a Ward Secretary for many years. She was also a volunteer at the Center for 15 years.
Agnes was an original member of St. Bridget Parish in Stamford, and was a member of the 3rd Order Of St. Francis. She was married to Wilbur (Bill) Burns for over 69 years. 5 brothers, Edward, Louis, John, Anthony and August, predeceased her. 2 sisters, Theresa Sullivan and Faye Murphy, also predeceased her.
Survivors include her 4 children and their spouses. Daniel and Heidi Burns, Judith and Robert D’Andrea, Christine and William Minihan and Mary Calabrese and Carl Monti. Agnes had 8 grandchildren and was blessed with 11 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the health care professionals at both Stamford Hospital and St. Camillus Health Center for their excellent care and compassion towards Mrs. Burns and her family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 16th at 11:00 at St. Bridget of Ireland Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Avenue, Stamford, CT. Interment will be private.
