
Alice was the beloved mother of Mary Winfield Wilson (Gibby), Frances Winfield Bremer (Francie), William Turner Winfield (Bill), and Alice Winfield Collington (Bonnie). She was the adored grandmother of eleven and the great-grandmother of twelve.
Born in 1914 in St. Paul, Mn., Alice Turner attended the Summit School, graduating in 1932, and from Wheaton College in Norton, Ma. in 1936. In 1939 she married William Hood Winfield, and they spent the war years in Washington. Then they moved to White Plains, next to St. Louis, and finally to Riverside, Ct. where the family resided for many years. Alice was active in the Junior League, and she loved to read, play tennis, and travel.
Alice will be remembered by family and friends as an elegant lady with a gracious manner, astounding memory, and a kind word for all.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 9th, 3pm, at the First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich. Gifts in her name may be given to the Nathaniel Witherall Nursing Home where she volunteered for many years. The address is 70 Parsonage Rd., Greenwich, Ct. 06830.
