

Anne J. Pitaro, 85, of Greenwich, CT passed away on February 8th, 2013 from complications of lymphoma. Anne was born January 6th, 1928 in Ozone Park, Queens, the eldest of six children of Carmela Montefusco and Rosario LoBaido. She graduated from Nativity BVM elementary school, Bishop McDonnell High School, and Hunter College. Anne received a Master’s Degree in Education from Fordham University in 1976. She worked in the Catholic schools of the Diocese of Brooklyn for 29 years as both, teacher and principal, the latter at St. Elizabeth in Ozone Park.
Anne was married to now retired, New York State Supreme Court Justice Nicholas L. Pitaro for 61 years. They were long-time residents of Ozone Park, and active in numerous church and community organizations. Anne served as the Queens Commissioner of the Girl Scouts of the USA. Prior to Greenwich, the couple lived in Stamford, CT for 15 years. Anne is the mother of Edmund (Coleen Kiel), Angela, Regina (Mario Gabelli), Nicholas, and Gregory (Penelope Christophorou). She was beloved by her eight grandchildren: Adrian, Margaret, Nora, Elizabeth, Paul, Gabriel, Isabel, and Nicholas.
The funeral service will be held at Nativity BVM R.C., 101-41 91st Street, Ozone Park, NY at noon on Tuesday, February 12th, 2013. Visitation will be held at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT on Sunday February 10th and Monday February 11th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm each day.
