

Anthony J. Tella, 96 of Stamford, husband of Jeanne Hart Tella, died Friday in Huntington, NY. Born in Stamford on February 12, 1917 he was the son of the late Thomas and Regina Pasquini Tella and had been a lifelong Stamford resident. He was a Realtor and owner of Suburban Properties in Stamford prior to his retirement. He was a founding member of the Senior Men’s Association of Stamford and a President of the North Stamford Lions Club. He was also a member of the Halloween Yacht club and raced with the Breakwater Irregulars for many years. He was a veteran World War II and also served in the 399th Civil Affairs Group in Danbury, CT. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserve as a Major. In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by his son Richard Tella, of Greenlawn, NY; a sister, Claire Grunbeck of Huntington, NY; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Marie Galgano, and two brothers, Dr. Rocco Tella and Dr. Ralph Tella. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 18th at 10:00 AM at St. Cecilia RC Church, 1186 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Camp Avenue, Darien.
