He was a loyal, distinguished and loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather, and a devoted physician to four generations of patients.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Myra, his sons John, Peter and Tom; his grandsons Matthew and Sean; and great-grandsons Ellis and Oliver. His father, Morris Harrison, and mother, Elsie Harrison, resided in Paterson, NJ, where Arthur was born.
Arthur served three years with the Army's 102nd Infantry Division in Europe during WWII, saw combat in the Battle of the Bulge, and earned three service medals before receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1946. Arthur went on to study at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He was a graduate of New York Medical College, Flower and Fifth Avenue Hospitals. Dr. Harrison opened a private practice of Internal Medicine in 1955 in Stamford, CT, retiring 41 years later. He served as a member of the Fairfield County and Connecticut Medical Society, and enjoyed staff privileges at both St. Joseph and Stamford Hospitals.
Arthur will be forever remembered for his curious nature, quick wit and loving devotion to family.
Donations can be made in Arthur’s name to the Stamford Hospital Foundation.
