Bertha Goodwin

Born January 15,1945 in Kershaw County to the late Sarah Watkins Bennett. She was educated in the Camden South Carolina school system and accepted Jesus at an early age. She met and married her childhood sweetheart Charles Goodwin Jr. and relocated to Stamford, Connecticut, where they became members of Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church under Samuel White.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 60 years Charles Goodwin Jr. A daughter Jennifer McLellan (Jeremiah Jr.) of Stamford, a son Charles Goodwin III (Robin) of Bridgeport, three grandchildren, Bryan, Naja & Kyra Goodwin and a host of In-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Also to cherish her memory, eight sisters, Clara Bennett, Rosa Lue Lloyd, Christine Deas, Sarah Mae Canty, Deloris Skinner, Rhonda Marie Dow, Lena Campbell and Lula Windham. Four brothers, Henry Bennett, James Bennett, Benny Payne and Darryl Payne. Some of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her adoptive parents Orenter and Alan Payne.

Visitations will be on Tuesday December 27, 2022, 11am-12pm with a celebration of life service at 12pm at Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT. Please observe Covid precautions.
