Born on July 23, 1934, in Mount Kisco, New York, Bridget was the daughter of Michael and Mary Reaney. After graduating from St. John's Academy and the Berkeley School in White Plains, New York, she began her career as assistant to Mother Eleanor Mary O'Byrne, President of Manhattanville College.
In 1956, Bridget married the love of her life, Thomas J. Connolly, Jr. Together they built a loving home in Stamford, where they raised their four children. While devoted to her family, Bridget also earned her associate degree from Norwalk Community College and later worked as a documentation specialist for a leasing company. She dedicated many years of volunteer service to her home parish, St. Clement Church in Stamford.
Bridget will be remembered for her wry sense of humor, her slightly sassy, "tell it like it is" personality, and her sharp intelligence. She was deeply devoted to her faith and, during difficult times, relied on it for strength and guidance. Above all, she was a kind, nurturing, and fun-loving woman who found her greatest joy in caring for, playing with, and spending time with her six grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Josephine Connolly of Southbury; her sons, Thomas (Angela) Connolly of Stamford, Michael Connolly of Norwalk, and Christopher (Linda) Connolly of Brookfield; and her daughter, Theresa (Chris) Compolattaro of Stamford. She also leaves behind her cherished six grandchildren: Christian Compolattaro; Miranda Connolly and Danielle Connolly; and Thomas Connolly, Bridget Connolly, and Linda Ann Connolly; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Bridget was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. Connolly, Jr.; her brothers-in-law, Francis Connolly, Robert Connolly, Gerald (Dora) Connolly, and Eugene (Kaye) Connolly; as well as several dear friends.
Bridget's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and support staff at Candlewood Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center in New Milford for the exceptional care and kindness they provided over the past three years. They also wish to thank the physicians, nurses, and support staff at Danbury Hospital for their compassionate care during Bridget's final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, at St. Clement Roman Catholic Church, 535 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford, Connecticut. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, Darien, Connecticut.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
