Daphne Pierre-louis was called home to the lord in the early morning of February 21, 2017. Daphne came to America as a wide eyed 14yr old girl to be a companion for her best friend who had recently come to America as a nanny for a family in Westport, CT. Being alone in a new country her friend quickly became lonely and homesick so the family asked Rita if she had a friend she would like them to bring over to keep her company, and Rita immediately thought of Daphne. Daphne agreed to come to America to help her friend, as many will attest too throughout her life Daphne was always there to help others in need.
Drawn to a life of service Daphne worked full time and attend nursing school. She eventually became a nurse working at Stamford Hospital for almost three decades driven by her desire to help others in their time of need. And over those decades she made every patient feel special everyday with her infectious smile and humor while they were under her care. Daphne believed her strength to serve others came from her love of her family and belief in the lord; she was a member of Stamford Baptist Church for over 40 years. Daphne would often attend two separate churches in Stamford on Sundays in addition to choir practice during the week.
Daphne is survived by her sons Joseph Pierre-louis and David Pierre-louis, grandchildren Trey Pierre-louis III and Avah Pierre-louis. She also leaves behind her brothers, cousins, cherished in- laws and many friends. Visitation will take place on Friday, February 24th from 5pm – 9pm at Leo P Gallagher & Son Funeral Home 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT 06905
