

David B. Greenfield, 53, of Weston, CT, passed away surrounded by family on October 17th after undergoing emergency cardiac surgery during a very brief hospitalization. He was born to Rhoda Greenfield Hammer and the late Martin Greenfield on August 2nd, 1962 in Brooklyn, NY. David graduated from Norwich Free Academy and went on to receive a Bachelor’s in Accounting from the University of Connecticut in 1984. He married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl Dwyer Greenfield, on September 28th, 1985. He is survived by his wife and three children, Jason, Melissa, and Aaron. He also leaves behind his mother Rhoda and step-father Leon Hammer (Punta Gorda, FL), sister Karyn Barrows and her children Zachary and Stacey (Norwich, CT), and brothers in law Peter Dwyer (N. Andover, MA) and Ray Dwyer (Juneau, AK). David was a member of the UCONN Foundation Board of Directors and was inducted into the UCONN Hall of Fame in May of 2015. He was appointed as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of The Hanover Insurance Group in 2011 and was a member of the board of directors at the Hanover Theater. Prior to his position at The Hanover he was the Chief Financial Officer of AXIS Capital Holdings and previously at KMPG, LLP for 22 years rising to Senior Partner. David worked with immense drive and passion in order to support his loved ones. A father, husband, friend, colleague, mentor, advent Yankee’s fan, and dad joke connoisseur, David will be greatly missed. A memorial will be held at The Conservative Synagogue in Westport this Thursday at 10:45am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
