OBITUARY

David James Sturtevant

August 22, 1962October 30, 2019

David James Sturtevant, 57, of Norwalk passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30th surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his parents, Ronald and Carole, his sister Doris (Tucciarone), her husband Luigi, niece Megan, nephew Michael, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. David, born at Norwalk Hospital, August 22, 1962, grew up in Stamford, Fairfield, and lastly Norwalk where he graduated from Brien McMahon High School. David enjoyed music, sports, and travel. He worked at times as a DJ in local clubs. An avid sports fan he attended many sporting events, including his favorite the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed playing tennis, skiing, scuba diving, and jet skiing. David had an earlier career in corporate travel, booking famous clients from Columbia Artist Management in NYC. This fueled another passion, world travel. He enjoyed the perks of being a travel agent visiting many locations around the world; a few of his favorite places were Australia, Hawaii, and Paris. David also loved animals, especially his sweet Shiba Inu, Simba. About 25 years ago, he found his passion for hair and became a hairstylist and colorist. In 2012, David opened his own business, Indigo Hair Spa, in downtown Stamford. David continued to see clients until his final weeks, always happy to collaborate on new color or styles. David was one of a kind and will be remembered fondly for his vibrant energy, bright smile, and unforgettable laugh. Calling hours will be on Friday, Nov. 8th, from 4-8 PM at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St. Stamford, CT. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9th at 11 AM at Bethany Church, 2 Scofieldtown Rd. Sterno!

My Beloved Friend and Dance Partner

Somebody’s eyes ... I just want to find love in somebody’s eyes Our favorite song .. we had more than a shing-a-ling with that song

Truly when you closed your eyes on earth and your eyes opened in heaven you found love, not just in anybody’s eyes, you were face to face staring in the eyes of Jesus. A place we all long to be

Thank you for being that good friend that led me to my best friend... Jesus our Savior
whose eyes we look into and our soul is forever satisfied

See you on the other side where the dances in heaven never end ❤️👏❤️

Darling Forever 😉

Dearest David, for decades we've shared a divinely significant place in each other's heart and soul, a special spot in me, for one, that only you can light up in your special ways. Presently that light is heartbreakingly flickering, but that's absolutely a temporary feeling. At our best, we be Everliving Everlasting Spirits. And oh what a sparkling unique one you are!
Outshining any challenges, for anyone blessed to know you, you made your marks: the brisk energy lingering in your trail, the colorfulness your free spirit splashes into the air, the mischievous guffaw rivering from your fun-for-all self, that everready gleaming smile, animated expressions/ and comic phrasings, enthusiastic passions (e.g., athletics, animal loving, stylin' ala hair'n'fashion, gallavanting, music and more music, 'shing-a-linging', uber-outgoing-socializing). The love, devotion, appreciation you expressed for family, friends, partners, pets ---another 'birthmark'. And, bless our souls, D, dashing taboo, we freely reflected on spiritual interests and curiosities, respectfully different as our paths might be, but sooo 'bottom line', the meaning of existence.
We've covered much ground on this temporary home of Earth, high notes and low balls. We wonderfully mated on much common ground, but, as any buds, we also diverged enough ---a minor aside, as we always intensely rooted for each other, cared where the other was headed, offered suggestions, warnings, hugs, MWAHs. You love me so so much, My Dearest D, and I 'Endless Love' you. For who you've been here and all that you are now Out There, Cheers, M'dear!!! Take a bow. Be in bliss with Creator, Light, Spirit. I'll see you around, Beloved Brother+ Beyond. MWAH, YourMrPhil

I first met David at the beginning of my adult life. We were a group of happy, passionate, music loving friends and we loved and respected one another. He was the most loyal and committed friend of us all. I was fortunate to reconnect with David later in life and although he faced business and life hurdles he was always finding solutions. I know that wherever he is he is carrying his music collection around and sitting and chatting about the music he loved. 🙏🏻

I wanna send my condolences to the family my prayers are with you. Recently this spring, David found a hatchling that fell out of its nest in the backyard. He asked me what should he do with it and together we tried to save it. He put it in the shoe box in the garage and nursed it water. Unfortunately it didn't survive. He loved animals and music . David was and is a gentle sou.l Rest in peace

I am so deeply saddened to hear about David. I have known him for almost thirty years. His laughter, love for the Yankees, and his kindness will be a great loss for many of us and the world in general. He made the world a better place. He has followed me on the journey, of several boyfriends, marriage, starting a business, children and politics. I loved talking with him and getting his perspective on so many different things going on in our lives. My heart truly hurts, and I am going to miss him greatly!

David was one of my closest friends even though I have only known him for 6 years. We met when I came to Reflections with a Groupon and learned our birthdays were one day apart. From that day on, we celebrated together every year!! David had an amazing spirit and he would laugh with you until you both had tears in your eyes. Now I have tears of sadness and have been missing him everyday. We told each other everything and now I need him to send someone else to me to help fill that void. I will always miss him. I know how hard this has been on the family. They are wonderful people. 🌹❤️ Below is our birthday two years ago.

Dear Muah,

You are so loved and will be so missed.
All the car rides with singing and silly jokes.
All those freezing nites at Yankee Stadium
AND Poland Spring water bottles.
And your friendship and devotion in my crises.

I will always remember you.

Love, China
