Following a brave seven-year battle with breast cancer, Debra Wald Goldberg of Stamford, Connecticut passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 23 surrounded by many loving family members. She was 44 years old. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on October 4, 1968, Debbie was raised in Natick, MA. After graduating from the University of Vermont in 1990, Deb enrolled at Boston University School of Law, where she met her husband Ken, and earned her J.D. in 1993. Deb and Ken were married in 1994 and settled in Stamford. Deb practiced law prior to the birth of the couple’s first child in 1999, after which Deb focused on being a devoted mother and spouse. During the last several years, Deb also enjoyed teaching at Sara Walker Nursery School and at Temple Beth El’s Sunday school. Deb is survived by her beloved husband, Ken, and their three beautiful children, Alyssa, Andrew and Daniel. Debra was the daughter of Warren Wald of Delray Beach, FL and the late Joanne Wald; sister to Rick Wald and his wife Karen of Saint Paul, MN, and aunt to their children, Sarah and Jonathan Wald; and sister to Susan Wald of Lake Worth, FL. Deb is also survived by her devoted in-laws, Connie and Gerry Sanders of Rye Brook, NY, and brother-in-law, Fred Goldberg of New York, NY. Deb will also be remembered fondly by many loving family members from the extended Goldberg, Wald, Olin, and Sklar families, and many wonderful friends. The family gratefully thanks the physicians and staff at the Stamford Hospital Bennett Cancer Center for their years of compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Deb’s memory can be made to the Bennett Cancer Center or Temple Beth El in Stamford. Funeral services will be held at Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Road, Stamford on Thursday, July 25 at 11:00 a.m.
