Dr. Ira S Hoffman

78 of Stamford, Connecticut passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Friday, June 8, 2012 at Stamford Hospital.

Ira was born in New Haven CT, February 21,1934 to the late Sarah Schaff Hoffman and Jacob Hoffman. He attended the University of Connecticut and Tufts Dental School.

Ira practiced dentistry for 47 years and considered his patients extended family. When not with patients he was best known to be found in his workshop building something, in his garden growing something, and most recently creating works of art with his paintings. His most important aspect in life was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia of 49 years, 3 children, Jeffrey Hoffman of Manhattan, Gayle Alswanger and her husband, Geoff of Stamford and Dana Rosen and her husband Eric of Scarsdale, NY, five grandchildren, Melanie, Matthew, Jake, Alec and Spencer.

Funeral Services will take place on Sunday, June 10,2012 at 2pm, Temple Sinai Stamford 458 Lakeside Drive. Burial will follow at the Long Ridge Union Cemetery.

Shiva will be observed through Tuesday 4:30pm-8:30pm at the home of Cynthia Hoffman. Services held at 7pm.
