Elayne was born and raised in Weehawken, New Jersey, the daughter of Raymond Weisbart and Rose Weisbart and sister of the late Gilbert Weisbart. Elayne attended Temple University and began her professional life as an English teacher before moving into real estate.
Over the next 45-plus years, Elayne became one of Stamford’s most successful real estate brokers. She was the #1 Sales Executive in her office for 36 consecutive years, the #1 realtor in Stamford for 19 consecutive years, and achieved more than half a billion dollars in career sales. She took tremendous pride in her work.
Elayne was a force to be reckoned with, and anyone who knew her knew it. Her family jokingly called her the "Mayor of Stamford" because it was nearly impossible to go anywhere in town with her without running into someone she knew. After so many years in real estate, she seemed to know just about everyone, and just about everyone seemed to know Elayne.
As proud as she was of her career, nothing mattered more to Elayne than her family. She raised her two daughters, Lisa Salzman and Hillary Jassey, in Stamford and was a proud grandmother to Fraya, Noah, and Sarah Salzman, and Bennett and Hazel Eidelberg. She also shared a close and loving bond with her sons-in-law, Kenneth Salzman and the late Adam Eidelberg.
Elayne is also survived by her sister-in-law, Deanne Weisbart; her nieces and nephew, Hedy Weisbart and her husband Scott Reddin, Randy Weisbart and his wife Gail, and Lori Polson and her husband Martin Friedman; and her grandnieces and grandnephew, Benjamin Polson, Jessie Polson, Nadia Reddin, Mariel Weisbart, Jenna Weisbart, and Eve Weisbart.
Elayne loved spending time with her family, whether it was going to Broadway shows in New York City, getting pizza and eggplant parm at Mario the Baker in Stamford, or simply being together. She also loved spending time at the beach, especially during summers with her family on Long Beach Island.
Elayne had a full life, a career she was proud of, and a family she loved dearly. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral and burial services will be held on Wednesday, November 4th at 1PM at Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Road, Stamford, CT. A Meal of Comfort (seudat havra'ah) will follow immediately afterward at Temple Beth El.
Donations may be made in Elayne's memory to Compassionate Care ALS or the Children's Heart Fund at Mount Sinai, two causes that were dear to her and her family.
