

Elie was born on November 18, 1982 in Stamford, CT. He was the youngest son of Josette Alcide and Pierrot Joseph. As a child, Eli attended Stamford schools and graduated from Westhill High School in 2000. He continued his education at Norwalk Community College and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Culinary Arts from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island in 2007. Following graduation, Elie moved to Philadelphia to begin his career as a chef and pursue his passion for cooking. His talents in the kitchen were well-known and he worked very hard to create wonderful dishes for his friends, family and neighbors. Elie was a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and of the Prince Hall Mason Lodge of Providence, Rhode Island. He had a gentle soul that was loved and admired by everyone who knew him.
Elie was the youngest of eight siblings. He is survived by his parents, Josette Alcide and Pierrot Joseph of Stamford, CT; his paternal grandmother, Zina Louis of Stamford, CT; his siblings Wilna Leneus of Spring Valley, NY; Jean Gardy Joseph of Brockton, MA; Nadege Vital (Errol) of Randolph, MA; Marie Sabine Joseph of Boston, MA; Ifcar Joseph of Stamford, CT, Jean Fritz Joseph (Christina) of Atlanta, GA, and Jean Marc Joseph of Stamford, CT; and nieces Isabella and Nadline Vital, Gabriella Leneus and Micah Flavella; nephews Benedict (Ben) Leneus, Daniel Vital, and Emmanuel Joseph. He also leaves behind countless aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends, colleagues to mourn his passing. He is pre-deceased by his paternal grandfather, Monpelier Joseph of Stamford CT, and his maternal grandparents, Jehula Bijou and Alcineus Alcide of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Eli’s passing has left a void in the Joseph family that no person or thing can fill. He will be greatly missed by all.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 2 to 5 p.m at Shiloh Seven Day Adventist Church on 977 Hope Street, Stamford, CT.
