Evelyn N. Johnson

Evelyn Nordstrom Johnson passed away at her home, on Sept. 18, 2011,after a brief illness at 95. She was predeceased by her husband The Rev. Bernhard J. Johnson, former pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Stamford. Evelyn was the daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Lawrence F and Ellen Nordstrom. She is survived by her sister, Lenor Nordstrom, her children Lisbeth Hydrick , Craig Johnson and wife Diane , Siri Quitmeyer and husband Hans, grandchildren, Aaron and wife Janet, Carrie, Sarah and husband James, Siri, Sebastian, Maitland and great grandchildren, Koryn and James. Evelyn received her BA from Gustavus Adolphus College and received her Masters Degree in library science from Pratt Institute. She was the head librarian at Dolan Middle School and worked at the Ferguson Library. Family and friends may visit at the Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street , Stamford on Sept. 20 ,2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. The service will be help at Union Memorial Church, 58 Church Street, Stamford, on Sept. 21 ,2011 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Union Memorial Church, 58 Church Street, Stamford, CT 06906 or to the State Street Debating Society College Scholarship Fund, c/o Phoenix Management, PO Box 128, Stamford, CT 06904.
