On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, our beloved Dad and Grandpa quietly and unexpectedly departed the life he lovingly built in Stamford, Connecticut.
A proud United States citizen, George deeply respected the values and foundations upon which this country was built. Tireless and hardworking, with a strong and commanding presence, he devoted himself entirely to his wife Lucy (who predeceased him on May 11, 2025), their home, and their family.
George dedicated many years of his life to his work as a senior machinist in manufacturing and logistics at Pitney Bowes, where his expertise and dedication earned him the respect of colleagues and associates. At home, he was a master in renovation and craftsmanship, always ready to lend his skilled hands to any task that needed attention. Whether building, repairing, or improving, George approached every project with care and pride. His home was his sanctuary, a place he lovingly maintained alongside his dear Lucy. They worked on their garden, making it a place of beauty and tranquility that showed their shared effort.
He is survived by his daughters, Sherry Scarvey (Sean) and Leslie Curry, and by his grandchildren: Jacob, Alexandra and Ryan Scarvey, and Zoe Curry.
To his grandchildren, he leaves a legacy of treasured stories—of his childhood in a pastoral village in Eastern Europe, his youthful journeys through Germany and Greece, his arrival in New York City where he found his first job, and the moment he met their grandmother, becoming part of her warm and loving Italian family. These memories are gifts that will continue to inspire and bring warmth to those who loved him.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Darien, CT, on Friday, June 13 at 11 a.m.
