

GEORGIA MAE HINTON was a resident of Stamford, Connecticut for 42 years. Mrs. Hinton was born July 22, 1948 to the late Jimmy Hill and Leola Silver of Aliceville, Alabama. She departed this earth on November 8, 2011 at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut where she battled a brief illness.
In 1967 Georgia moved to Stamford, CT and started dating her childhood friend Mr. Joe Hinton and later married him in April 1969. Mrs. Hinton worked faithfully for “The Roger Smith Hotel for over ten years and another eight years for “Wolfe Cleaners”; which she loved both dearly. Georgia could accomplish anything she set her mind to do. She built her family culture around southern cuisine and hospitality. Every Saturday night, you would find Georgia preparing for her Sunday dinner feast (which always included three meats). To her cooking was the key to a healthy family.
She leaves in fondest memory: Three daughters Denise Hinton-Bush (Randy), Aletha Hinton, and Cassandra Hinton-Devalda (Arnold) all of Stamford, CT; Four grandchildren Derek Story, Diamond Bush, Dasani Paulemon, and Rufus McKinstry III all of Stamford, CT; Five sisters Eloise Clark (Deceased), Helen Billups, Sandra Hinton, Annette Smith, and Joyce Lavender; One brother Jimmy Hill Jr. (Deceased); A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
At her request, the calling hours will be held in Stamford, Connecticut on Friday November 11, 2011 at The Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home located at 2900 Summer Street Stamford, CT 06905 from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be conducted in Aliceville, Alabama at The Lavender Funeral Home located at 11233 Alabama 17 Aliceville, AL 35442 on November 17, 2011.
