Gloria Russell, 72, of Stamford, CT passed away unexpectedly early morning on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024. Gloria was born on April 7, 1951, in Kingston, Jamaica to the late Ramdhai (Mary) Datadeen and Ralph Datadeen.
In 1978, Gloria migrated to the U.S.A. She worked at ACMI in Stamford, CT for over 30 years until her retirement. She was often the life of the party. Gloria lit up any room she walked into and knew how to keep a crowd. Gloria, known as Ma Gee, was a package deal with her daughter Tanya. If one was around, the other was not far behind and often in very similar outfits. Ma Gee had grandkids and great grandkids whom she loved spending all her free time with, but she extended her love to anyone else who was lucky to find themselves in her orbit. On the off chance that she couldn’t be reached, it was more than likely that she was deeply entrenched in a serious candy crush run, a personal favorite of hers. Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Enrico Russell, and children Antonio (Shantay Primus) Russell and Tanya Russell; her six grandchildren, Michael Russell, Trevor (Lilly) Moye, Clive Scott, Brendan Russell, Antonio Russell, Jr., and granddaughter Lauren Russell; and great-grandchildren Da’Coda Russell and Logan Scott.
She is predeceased by her sisters, Olive Datadeen and Doris Datadeen, niece, Carole Wong. Living relatives: sisters, Verna (Sidney) Wong, Pearl Datadeen, Pauline Datadeen, brother Lindell (Margaret) Datadeen, brother-in-law Keith (Lisa) Cole, and sister-in-law Belita (Irvin Gordy) Cole; nieces, Jennifer (Carl) Ruspini, Doreen (Vincent) O’Banner, Zania (Guillermo) Bernal and nephews Steve Wong, George Wong, Carey Moulton, Lenox Moulton, Tyrone Curling, and a host of grand nieces and nephews. She was the foundation of our family, a loving wife, a remarkable mother, and an adored grandmother. Her departure has left an immeasurable void in our lives. She was the glue that held us all together, and she will be missed immensely by us all.
In lieu of gifts/flowers, we ask that you hold your loved ones tight and cherish the time spent with them.
