

Hyacinthe K. Hoffman, 98, of Stamford, Connecticut, wife of the late Harold E. Hoffman, died peacefully on April 10 at Edgehill Senior Living Community with her children Cynthia Livingston and Stephen, Jonathan and Peter Hoffman and their spouses, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren gathered at her side.
A 1937 graduate of Vassar College, Hy moved to Stamford with Harold to establish the Stamford branch of Hoffman Fuel Company. Hy was active in developing resources in Fairfield County for families and children. She served on the Board of Family and Children’s Services of Stamford, Darien and New Canaan as well as on the Community Advisory Board of UConn (Stamford) Center for Judaic and Middle Eastern Studies. She supported Temple Beth El, United Way, Stamford Jewish Federation, Young Audiences, Stamford JCC and Great Books, among other organizations. Hy was a matriarch and an inspiration for her generosity, wit and pluck.
A funeral service will be held Friday, April 12, 12:30 pm at Temple Beth El on Roxbury Road, Stamford, Connecticut. Contributions in her memory may be made to Family Centers of Stamford, UConn (Stamford) Center for Judaic and Middle Eastern Studies, Ferguson Library, or to the charity of your choice.
