Iraida V. Burke
May 1, 1933 – August 7, 2018
Iraida Burke was born in Cuba to Spanish parents, Jose and Marina Villa. She came to the United States, specifically Iowa, in February 1962, accompanied by her mother, older sister, three nephews and niece. She was a hard working person who enjoyed many friendships over the years. She had a passion for travel, and visited places across the globe, including China, Poland, Russia, the Scandinavian countries, most of Western Europe and South America. After moving to Stamford in 1967, she worked at Macklet Labs, and later in life at Northeastern Elementary School as an assistant teacher. To work with the young children brought her much joy. She took great pride in becoming a United States citizen in 1971, and loved this country. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Walter Burke. She is survived by her sister, Marina Arango, her brother, Jose Villa, her niece, Lizzete Beltram, and nephews, Luis, Laurentino, and Fernando Arango, along with their children and grand children, which includes nine grand nieces and nephews, and thirteen great grand nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 4-7 pm Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 St. Benedicts Church at 10 a.m Interment to follow at St. John's Cemetery Darien, Connecticut
