Irene Peggy Wort passed away peacefully on July 13, 2014. Peggy was born on September 23, 1924 in Southampton, England. During World War II she was evacuated to Bournemouth but returned to Southampton to be a fire warden, looking out for fires after the bombing raids. After the war, she joined the Inland Revenue where she met her beloved Stan. They married in 1948 and lived in Derby, England for many years raising their two daughters. In 1976, they moved to Canada, and then to Greenwich, CT in 1977. Peggy was active with Meals on Wheels and was a member of the Greenwich Lawn Bowls Club.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents, brother Ron and daughter Patricia Barry. She leaves behind her younger daughter Pamela Lake, her grandchildren Benjamin, Emily, Fiona and Georgina, and her son-in-laws Ron Lake and Philip Barry, as well as her nephew Keith Sanger and his family Karen, Grant, Kristen and Brett.
