
JACK GREENBERG, a longtime resident of Stamford, passed away December 13, 2010, of natural causes. Jack was born in New York City on June 27, 1928, the son of the late Samuel and Sophie Greenberg. He is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Phoebe; his two children, Meryl McDaniel of Stamford, and David Greenberg of Wilton, Connecticut; and four grandchildren, Arthur, Jonathan, Emily and Benjamin. Jack served as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army, and was stationed in Japan after World War II, and in Korea during the Korean conflict. He was awarded a Bronze Star while in Korea. After serving in the military, Jack returned to school at New York University, where he earned his Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering. He went on to own and operate a successful uniform supply company in New York City for many years. Jack was also very active in his community, among other things serving for two years as President of Temple Beth El, in Stamford. As a longtime member of Rockrimmon Country Club, he spearheaded the Club’s annual fundraising event for local emergency service groups. Jack was known to all for his commitment to family, charitable spirit, and unwavering optimism. Funeral services will be held at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT 06905 on Wednesday, December, 15 2010 at 10:00 am, followed by shiva at his home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association and the United Jewish Federation of Stamford.
