Jack was a wonderful man. I am blessed to have known him.

We are so sorry to learn on Thursday about Jack's death. He was truly an amazing man and we will miss him, as we've missed Claire. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I will miss you cousin Jack!  Our cross-country correspondence over the years has always brought a smile to my face.  What an amazing and full life you have lived!  Love to all of your family and I truly hope the cousins can stay in touch and honor the legacies of the cousins who came before. (I am Miriam Brooks Sherman's granddaughter; Miriam was one of Jack's first cousins.  They shared the common grandparents of Sender Shapiro and Mary/Miriam Ginsberg Shapiro.)

Celebrating a life well lived! Jack and my mother, Miriam Brooks Sherman, were first cousins, and although separated by a continent,they stayed closely in touch. Jack was the last survivor of a large generation of first cousins.His connection with author Sydney Shapiro in China, led to a fascinating home visit in the Beijing Hutong area when my daughter Dana and I were traveling in 2000.  I will miss our annual exchange of greetings, but will carry wonderful memories of this dear cousin. Condolences are extended to all our eastern family.

Rest in peace, cousin Jack.  My mother, Miriam Sherman, always spoke so highly of you. I wish we had lived closer together.   Love from your cousin in California.

I will always treasure the time I spent with Jack back in the 1970s when I became editor of Twayne when it moved to Boston. He was a good friend and taught me many valuable lessons, including "the creative conversion of tsuris" in publishing. I loved him for his sensibility and droll but affectionate sense of humor and I will miss him.

Sorry for your loss, Brian, Kathleen and Molly. He sounds like he was an incredible person. What a life, well lived!

Jack was our consummate elder - who even invented Beth El's Elder's Day.  Everyone at Temple Beth El will miss him and we send condolences to the family

I had the good fortune and honor of working with Dr.Michael Steinberg in Stamford Hospital. He was an honorable and a great physician in every possible way . It has been many years, but the memory of good people never die !
