Mrs. Silver was born in Port Chester, NY on May 4, 1928 to the late Harry Matt and Anna Cohen Matt. She graduated from Port Chester High School and Pace College, and later worked as a buyer in the juniors’ clothing department at the C.O. Miller Company and Bloomingdale’s in Stamford and eventually retired from the Olin Corporation.
As an active member of Congregation Agudath Shalom in Stamford for more than 50 years, she was also part of the Chevra Kadisha and volunteered with their bingo program. She also served as the vice president of the women’s division of B’nai B’rith of Stamford. Her other interests included music, traveling, gardening, knitting, and the Mah Jongg League.
Mrs. Silver was predeceased by her husband Nathaniel Silver, her brother Irving Matt of California, her sister Florence Thierman of Rye Brook, NY; and her son Steven Silver of Houston, Texas.
She is survived by her son Matthew Silver of Stamford, CT and her grandchildren Aaron and Anna Silver of Houston, Texas.
