Joan M. Riordan

Joan M. Riordan - a resident of Stamford since 1973, passed away on September 26,2025. She was born October 17, 1935 in New York City, the daughter of the late John and Della Gray Flynn, who emigrated from Ireland.

Mrs. Riordan attended Sacred Heart Academy and Hunter College in New York City. She worked for Shell Oil Company in the Corporate Secretary’s office. She was active in church related activities, serving as a volunteer for twenty years at Smith House Retirement Home. She was President of the Church of the Holy Spirit Women’s Guild, a trustee for the Church of the Holy Spirit and served as a Eucharistic Minister for several years.

Mrs. Riordan was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, John J. Riordan of Stamford.

She is survived by six children: Ann Leona and her husband Donald; Mary Riordan; John Riordan; Dennis Riordan , Joan Riordan and Brian Riordan and his wife Maureen.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren; Kaitlyn (Brad), Jillian and Jake Neuberger; Molly (Rachel), Christopher and Michael (Stephanie) Leona and Roan, Aoife and Siobhan Riordan and 2 great grandchildren; Evie and Graham Leona.

She was predeceased by her sister Marion.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the caregivers who loved and supported Joan and her family for the last 11 months.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 403 Scofieldtown Road, Stamford at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 3. Burial will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Stamford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital.
