Our beloved Johnny passed away peacefully on March 19 at the age of 75, with his wife Anna by his side. John was born July 21, 1938 in Manhattan to Francesco and Ida Badini, who had immigrated from Italy ten years prior. John and Anna moved to Riverdale, NY and lived there for seven years, then to Stamford where they have resided for the past 44 years. He is survived by his wife Anna; his son Frank and his wife Amy of Greenwich, CT; his daughter Laura Day and her husband Steve of Ridgefield, CT; his five grandchildren: Luke, Max, Jack, Kenny and Carly; and by his sister-in-law Lalla, her husband Gregory Schimoler and their two children: Sabrina and Paul.
John earned a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from New York University in 1968. He worked for many years in the telecommunications industry for Bell Telephone, New York Telephone and NYNEX, where his designs earned several patents. He retired early, at 59, and has spent his retirement refining his cooking skills, reading, watching the birds in his beautiful garden, and enjoying Sunday dinners with his grandchildren.
John's life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 22 from 11:00-2:00 at Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 2900 Sumer Street in Stamford.
